Rima Fakih, Former Miss USA, Arrested For DUI

Former Miss USA Rima Fakih got arrested for DUI the other night. The 26-year-old, who became the first Miss USA of Arabian descent when she captured the crown in 2010, then managed to keep it despite controversy over some pole dancing pics, faces drunken driving charges after a weekend bust in Highland Park, Mich. Rima Fakih Tweeted Saturday: “Let’s clear things up now. … I’m NOT in Michigan and I’m NOT in jail! Wrong Fakih.” But … it sort of looks like that was the right Fakih. The post has since been removed, and on Sunday her attorney Doraid Elder confirmed the arrest, noting that her record “has not a single blemish,” other than this and that Rima is “very saddened and very apologetic for the situation that she’s in.” Police offered no additional details of the arrest. Alistair Overeem charged with battery in Las Vegas

Alistair Overeem, the UFC’s no. 1 heavyweight contender, was charged with misdemeanor battery for an incident at the Wynn Las Vegas on New Year’s weekend. According to the Las Vegas Review-Journal, Overeem faces up to six months in jail and a fine of $1,000. A citation issued by Las Vegas police stated at about 3 a.m. on Jan. 2, Overeem pushed or shoved a woman in the face, “causing her to stagger back.” David Chesnoff, Overeem’s attorney who is known for defending people with a public profile, said Overeem was not arrested, but summoned to court. DALLAS (AP) ? The Chicago White Sox have traded closer Sergio Santos to the Toronto Blue Jays for pitching prospect Nestor Molina.

The teams announced the deal Tuesday at the winter meetings.

Santos had 30 saves for the White Sox last season. The 28-year-old right-hander went 4-5 with a 3.55 ERA in 63 games.

Santos was in Toronto’s minor league system from 2006-08 as a shortstop. He converted to pitching in 2009 while in the White Sox organization.

Molina excelled in the minors for the Blue Jays, going 27-7 overall with a 2.21 ERA. The 22-year-old righty was a combined 12-3 with a 2.21 ERA in Double-A and Class A last season.

Rogue River Blue Wins Coveted 2011 American Cheese Society Award …

I will admit it here ? I LOVE Rogue River Blue cheese. As I pass through the area tomorrow, the Rogue store will be one of my stops. Heck, I?m staying in the area, with fantasies of me, a crusty loaf of bread, good wine, and a large lump of cheese. My tent will be a happy place.

Anyway, it might come as a surprise that their Rogue River Blue has won best of show for the second time! Not to be confused with their other blues which are quite interesting themselves, the Rogue River Blue is the flagship. I haven?t seen it in stores recently (it?s the one wrapped in brandy-soaked grape leaves), but I?m sure it will appear soon.

You can find their cheese at quite a few of the local farmers markets, so check around. Tell them Food Dude sent you ? and he?s not above graft and corruption when it comes to cheese. Try the butter too; it?s darn good.
